Lewiston Recreation and Attractions

Because of its location at the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers, Lewiston is an inland seaport – the nation’s furthest inland seaport, in fact. Ships travel over 450 miles inland along the Columbia River to reach Lewiston.

  • Golfing – the Lewiston Clarkston Valley boasts multiple golf courses which are easily enjoyed in the area’s mild climate
  • Snowmobiling – area mountains and parks have many trails for winter outdoor enthusiasts
  • Hunting and Fishing – Hunters enjoy the elk, deer, and water fowl that make their home in the national forests and private land just minutes from Lewiston. With steelhead, bass, white sturgeon, trout, kokanee, chinook, and many other species of fish, anglers also enjoy fishing in Lewiston area rivers and streams.
  • Hiking, picnicking, camping, and berry picking are also favorite outdoor Lewiston activities
  • Hells Gate State Park – Equipped with camping facilities, a beach, a marina, and hiking and horseback riding trails, the park is a favorite of summer visitors and minutes from Lewiston. Clearwater and Snake River trail system – This in-town trail lines the rivers and is excellent for roller blading, biking, running, and walking.

  • The Annual Dogwood Festival is held each year at the end of April or beginning of May. This week-long celebration includes an arts and crafts fair, sporting events, concerts, and other festivities.
